What is a Sym Crox Ignition Lock Barrel Switch?

The Steering lock set, or Sym Crox ignition lock switch, is an electro mechanical switch, normally operated by a key, that allows an owner to switch on the electrical and ignition circuits of their motorcycle or Sym scooter. Without the correct key, the lock cannot be operated. Some lock sets include other parts such as the fuel filler cap and seat opening mechanisms.

Some Lock Sets include a Seat Pull feature, that allows the rider to open the seat by twisting the key counter clockwise. This feature means that there is no need for an extra lock barrel in the seat itself.

How do I replace my Sym Crox Ignition Lock Barrel Switch & Keys? Repairing the Sym Crox Ignition Lock Set can be done by any competent home mechanic. The scooters body panels are usually attached using simple screws and clips. Once you gain access to the ignition barrel, you may find that it is attached using security snap bolts. These will need to be drilled out as you cannot use a spanner to remove them. When installing the new Sym Crox lock set, you can either use new security snap bolts, or, just use regular bolts if you are not concerned about theft.
