What is a Motorcycle Lockset?

The Steering lock set, or ignition switch, is an electro mechanical switch, normally operated by a key, that allows an owner to switch on the electrical and ignition circuits of their motorcycle or scooter. Without the correct key, the lock cannot be operated. Some lock sets include other parts such as the fuel filler cap and seat opening mechanisms.

Some Lock Sets include a Seat Pull feature, that allows the rider to open the seat by twisting the key counter clockwise. This feature means that there is no need for an extra lock barrel in the seat itself.

How can I repair my Yamaha Aerox Ignition Barrel after attempted theft? Replacing the Aerox Ignition Lock Set is something that any amateur mechanic can achieve. The scooters body panels are usually secured using simple screws and clips. Once you gain access to the ignition barrel, you may find that it is attached using security snap bolts. These will need to be drilled out as you cannot use a spanner to remove them. When installing the new Yamaha Aerox Ignition Barrel, you can either use new security snap bolts, or, just use regular bolts if you are not concerned about security.
