NOTE: WILL NOT WORK WITH EARLY Honda Transalp 1987-1988 XL600V-H or XL600V-J. They use the MM9 CDI which looks the same but is different.

Note: The Honda XL600V Translap and XRV650 Africa Twin motorcycles use a Twin Spark ignition system. Therefore they require a CDI that has two spark outputs. They are also Twin Cylinder bikes so they require two CDI units, giving a total of 4 spark outputs.

Will this CDI replace my existing Honda Transalp XL600V CDI? Yes, if your Honda Transalp was manufactured between 1989 and 1995 it should be fitted with the MS8 CI558 type CDI unit. These CDIs have a built in side stand cut off switch for safety and the original Honda CDI had the part number 30410-MS8-610, sometimes written as 30410MS8610. It may be an idea to swap both CDI units at the same times as if one has failed, it is likely the other may not last much longer either.
