Piaggio Brown Master Key

Should I buy a Piaggio Scooter without the Brown Master Key?

Should I buy a Piaggio Scooter without the Brown Master Key?

Modern Piaggio and Vespa scooters have a factory fitted immobilizer system. The scooters are supplied with a Brown Master Key and either a black service key, or blue service key, depending upon whether it is a Piaggio Scooter or Vespa Scooter.

The term Service Key is a little confusing. The service key is actually just the normal key for every day use. The Brown Master Key should be stored somewhere safe. It is really only required if you lose your service key. The Piaggio brown master key can then be used to program a new service key to the system.

Does it Matter if the Piaggio scooter does not have a Master Key?

In short, no, you can manage without the Master Key as long as you have at least one working service key.

However, you should use the fact that the Master Key is missing as a bargaining tool to reduce the purchase price of the scooter. That is because you are going to need to get another key to be on the safe side, and that key will cost money to obtain.

Here at www.gtmotoparts.com we can create you a New Master Key for your Piaggio or Vespa Scooter.

Or, we can Clone your Existing Service Key so that you have two working service keys

Conclusions

If you are buying a Piaggio or Vespa scooter, it is not essential that it comes with the Brown Master Key.

A replacement Piaggio Master Key can be obtained, or, the existing service key can be cloned so that you have two working service keys.

Allow for the cost of obtaining a replacement Master Key or cloned service key when negotiating the price of the Piaggio or Vespa scooter.
