How do I program a new Vespa Key?

If you have lost the blue service key for your Vespa Scooter then you can program a new vespa key using the steps outlined below. We sell suitable replacement Vespa keys here on our website.

First, you need to make sure that you have the Master Key for your Vespa. The Vespa Master Key is a slightly larger and Brown in colour.

If you have lost your Master Key, it is not a problem. We can create a new complete set of Vespa keys for you with the correct immobilizer codes. 1 x Master Key and 1 x Service Key.

Alternatively, on some of the older carburettor Vespa Scooters, we can supply a replacement control unit (CDI) without an immobilizer. After installing our replacement CDI (sometimes referred to as a immobilizer bypass CDI) any key that fits the lock can start the engine. The scooter will not have an immobilizer.

New Vespa Key Programming Procedure

  2. Insert your new Vespa Blue Key and turn it to the ON position. Wait 3 seconds and then turn it back to the OFF position and remove the key.
  3. To finish the programming procedure, reinsert your Vespa Master Key and turn it to the ON position. Wait 3 seconds and then turn it back to the OFF position and remove the key.

The new Vespa Key is now programmed to the vespa immobilizer system.

NOTE: Sometimes it can take several attempts to program the new Vespa Key.

NOTE 2: On some of the newer Vespa scooters, typically from around 2019 onwards, the keys may contain a different type of transponder chip with different encoding. If you have this newer type of Vespa immobilizer system and keys, then please read our New Vespa key programming instructions.
